TOWNSHEND — A 28-year-old man was arrested following a single-vehicle crash in Townshend yesterday.

The crash took place on Ellen Ware Road at around 11:44 a.m.

The driver fled from the scene.

Police say the driver was severely intoxicated, attempted to leave in his car, and hit a woman with his car door before crashing into a tree.

After a brief search of the area, Christoper J Peck, of Townshend, was located.

Police say Peck had several injuries from the crash and displayed several indicators of impairment.

He was transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

He was arrested for DUI and negligent operation and released on a criminal citation to appear in court on September 29 to answer to the charges.
