BRIDGEWATER — Police are looking for a 32-year-old fugitive from the state of Virginia, last seen in Vermont.

Police say they pulled over a vehicle yesterday for an infraction on U.S. Route 4 at around 8:00 a.m.

During the stop, police say, Brandon Curtis Adkins, of Virginia Beach, VA, gave a false name to the deputy before exiting the car and running into the woods.

When the true identity of the driver was discovered, police learned he had a felony warrant out of Virginia for credit card fraud and violation of probation.

After a request for assistance from deputies, State police sent several troopers and a K-9 to conduct a track in the area.

Authorities seized the vehicle, which was believed to be stolen from Enterprise, and a warrant to search the car is being sought by the investigating deputy.

During the initial search of the area, Adkins was not located.

A trooper later saw Adkins run across U.S. 4 and pursued him in an attempt to take him into custody but was unsuccessful.

Other sightings were reported around Goldcoast Road.

Police say Adkins is not believed to be dangerous or armed, and there has been no indication of a threat to public safety.

He was last seen this morning in the Route 4 area.

Police are still investigating this incident.

Anyone with information about this case or the whereabouts of Adkins is being asked to call the police.
