Man arrested for DUI after attempting to drive up ski slope at Magic Mountain

LONDONDERRY — A 59-year-old man was arrested for his second DUI after police say he attempted to drive a vehicle up a local ski slope.

The incident took place at around 11:00 p.m. on Friday, when troopers from the Vermont State Police and officers from the Winhall Police Department responded to a report of a man attempting to drive a motor vehicle from the parking lot up the ski slopes at Magic Mountain Ski Area.

Police met with the driver, identified as Frederick P. Brechter, of Shelter Island, NY.

According to the report, Brechter failed standardized field sobriety tests and displayed several indicators of impairment.

He was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court in March to answer to the charge of DUI #2.
