BRATTLEBORO — A 51-year-old Rhode Island man was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Townshend yesterday.
Police say a Fish & Wildlife Game Warden was driving a marked police vehicle with his emergency lights activated on Vermont Route 30, when he was overtaken by a vehicle that had gone into oncoming traffic to pass him.
The vehicle forced the oncoming traffic off the road.
He initiated a traffic stop after the incident, but the vehicle failed to stop.
The warden pursued the vehicle, and Brattleboro and state police were called to the area to assist.
They ultimately stopped the vehicle on VT-30 in Brattleboro.
The driver, identified as Kevin C. Fletcher, was taken into custody without incident.
Police say Fletcher was impaired while operating his vehicle.
He was processed at the Brattleboro Police Department and released to a sober party.
He was cited to appear in court on January 28 to answer to the charges of negligent operation, eluding a law enforcement officer, and driving under the influence of drugs.
