ATHENS — Police say a 16-year-old juvenile male from Athens threatened another student with knives yesterday morning.

Police were alerted to the incident at Leland and Grey High School.

Police say the juvenile had made threats to another student and was found to be in possession of several knives on the school grounds.

He was located and subsequently transported to Grace Cottage Hospital for evaluation.

School officials say based on the totality of the circumstances, an informed decision was made by the school not to go into lockdown.

“In an abundance of caution and in accordance with conditions of release, State Police secured several firearms and knives from the students residence until this matter is resolved,” a release issued by VSP reads.
