ROYALTON — Police have arrested Francis Phelps, 29, of Royalton, in connection with a fatal shooting at a home on Vermont Route 14.

Phelps is expected to be arraigned at 1 p.m. today on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a weapon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

An autopsy on George Sun, 41, of Royalton, is taking place today at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington.

The second victim is identified as 26-year-old Dakota Fielder.

He remains hospitalized at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and authorities say was in fair condition Wednesday morning.

Through investigation, police learned that Sun and Fielder were involved in a dispute with Phelps and another man, who was staying at the residence.

Sun and Fielder traveled to the residence, at which point Phelps began shooting, striking both men.

Police say the second man at the Route 14 residence is not facing any charges at this time.
