ST. ALBANS — Several of the state’s utilities have suspended collections and disconnections in wake of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and the economic disruption it is wreaking.

These include Green Mountain Power and Vermont Gas.

They have also changed their office hours, but will maintain service.

“We recognize that certain customers may experience financial difficulty as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, whether they or a family member fall ill, are required to quarantine, or because their income is otherwise affected,” Green Mountain Power said in a statement. “We hope to alleviate our affected.”

Vermont Gas released the following statement:

“VGS is temporarily suspending all collections-related activities for families, including service disconnections, through the end of April, to lessen any financial hardship the COVID-19 pandemic may have on our customers. This policy is effective immediately and will be in place through the end of April. If you are having trouble paying your bill, please call us.”
