SHAFTSBURY — A Manchester man was killed after getting hit by two vehicles on Route 7 in Shaftsbury Wednesday night.

The tragic incident took place on Route 7 at around 9:42 p.m.

Police say Frederic Wu was found lying in the middle of the road with the vehicle nearly 100 feet down an embankment.

Kathryn Canon, 57, of Arlington, was stopped roadside and told police they were headed southbound when they observed a man walk out in front of their vehicle.

Canon told police that she appeared to have applied their brakes and swerved to attempt to miss Wu, striking him with the driver side of the vehicle.

According to the report, Faith Adamczenko, 18, of Petersburg NY, was following a short distance behind Canon, ultimately hitting Wu head-on with the front of the vehicle.

Police say Wu was pronounced deceased at the scene, but Canon and Adamczenko did not sustain any injuries.

State Police were assisted on scene by the Bennington Police Dept, Bennington Rural Fire Dept, Shaftsbury Fire Dept, Arlington Fire Dept, and AOT.

Police say the investigation is in the early stages.
